All right, First go first.
Sailing can be just good way of spendind time or holidays with a family, making a bachelor party or good career or may be a new lifestyle. You can rent a boat with a crew and the captain, but isn`t it a real pleasure to handle boat yourself?!
First questions when you want to sail are :
In any case you will decide to pass one or few more advanced sailing courses. I will write about England now, but I thing there are similar courses in all the world and you can find marine almost everythere on the coast of the sea, just check on google.
There are a lot of courses provided, but in summary real sailor needs to know all the information included in those courses.
I chose Sailing boats for myself because it`s a challenge between human and nature. It`s extreme, fun and pure.
Starting yacht course covers :
The yacht, ropework, underway, rules of the road, man overboard recovery, clothing and equipment, emergency equipment and precautions, meteorology
that`s the basics. Practise lesson takes only 2 days, but it tooke me 2-3 months to cover all the theory. My goal was that at that moment I was working on the boat reconstructions and I got a lot of knowledge in boat scheme and parths.
There`s opportunity to sail for FREE and participate in races. The are a lot of boats and captains who need a crew and they are opened for new people who want to train and gain the experience. Just need to talk with people who already are sailing and you can be shure that someone will invite you o the boat.
Now I`m living in Nottingham is East Midland , England. First Ports which are close to me Are in Bristol and Liverpool. Personally I prefer Southampton. Theres a bit info about first steps in this.
Bristol is Beautiful city, I have been there for couple of times. First information what I have found on Bristol sailing is Bristol Sailing School. Easu to read and understand all the information ot the page. If you enter National Sailing Scheme you will have all the understanding of prices and basic information what you will get.
In Liverpool you cand find Liverpool Sailing Club information. It`s more based on activities in club than on training.
Southampton seems to be Capital of sailing in UK. SWSA that`s Southampton Water sailing Association. But you check it out yourself.
Next post will be A Yacht meaning Introduction And a bit of theory.
See ya Later.
